What Are You Reading Wednesday

It’s Wednesday!

Last week (actually this week) I finished reading Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I LOVED this book ❤ it was soo gripping. Especially the end. I’m currently working on the review and I’m pretty excited about it.
This week I’m thinking about picking up a contemporary and I’m going back and forth between The Unexpected Everything and Lola and The Boy Next Door. One of them is sitting on my shelf and the other is on it’s way to my house.
What do you guys think? Have you read either or both of these?

In lieu of the Christmas season ❤ I’m, as we speak, watching The Santa Clause movies!!! Growing up I can’t tell you how many times I watched The Santa Clause. Tim Allen’s performance in these movies is just perfect. Even though I’m Twenty-something he truly makes me believe that somewhere out there there is still a Santa Clause. Maybe that’s just what Christmas does to me, or maybe it’s the nostalgia that the movies bring. Either way it squeezes my heart, creates a lump and my throat and brings a hundred watt smile to my face. Though truthfully the first one was and always will be my favorite.

Also in lieu of the holidays, this is an easy one, it should come as no surprise that I’m listening (daily) to Christmas music! Specifically the soundtrack to Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer 🙂 again, thank you childhood.

That’s what I’m up to this week guys 🙂 Happy Holidays ❤ I hope you each have a great week and don’t forget to start hanging up those stockings, put up that tree and start putting up those lights.

Top Ten Tuesday

Woo Woo, it’s Tuesday! Which means the madness of the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday (which started on Thursday) and even Cyber Monday……..is all over!!! ❤ I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about that. As someone who works in retail……what a nightmare.
Top Ten Tuesday’s is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Boookish. This week is Holiday Gift Guide freebie (ten books to buy the YA lover in your life, 10 books to buy for your dad, etc.)
I sadly don’t have any other YA book lovers, or any other book lovers, in my life. Everyone is depressingly just turned off books in general for the most part. Except my two wonderful nieces whom I have all the hope in the world for that they will grow up to become book worms. This is going to be a Top Ten Gift Guide For Nieces……slash Next Generation of Book Worms. (P.S. Their ages are between 8 and 12) These are some of the books that got me super hooked on reading when I was growing up and I would love love love to get for them during the holidays. Here we go……

  1. If The Magic Fits by Susan Maupin Schmid
    22608767 (1)
(okay so maybe I didn’t grow up with this book which was recently published but I LOVED this book and it would be perfect for them.)
  2. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
  3. Holes by Louis Sachar by Louis Sachar
  4. Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
(I choose this book even though it’s a little dark because oh those feels!)
  5. Fear Street Saga by R. L. Stine
(Yeeees! As much as I loved Goosebumps, the Fear Street novels are what really hooked me to mystery and horror. It’s just the right amount of scary for them.)
  6. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
  7. Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White
  8. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
  9. Hank the Cowdog Series by John R. Erickson
(I loved this series! This was pre-Sherlock days for me.)
  10. Stuart Little by E. B. White

Well guys that’s all I have for you today. A lot of these books feel like classics but each one of these just made me want to read more and more. Some of them were very sad but that’s also what mesmerized me. That a single book can make you feel so much ❤ I was entranced and amazed and completely awe struck by each one. If I could give that as a gift back to someone it would be the best gift 🙂 there’s no better wrapping then the cover of a book that holds so much adventure inside.

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got some great deals over the weekend. I can’t wait to read everyone’s TTT posts.

What Are You Reading Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!
Today I was invited to go to a Spurs Basketball game 🙂 I’m so excited! My mother and I are taking off here pretty soon. Before I go I had to share what I’m reading this week. I’m actually really really excited about it. I have been waiting months for this book to come out and now it’s finally here. This week I’m reading………

Heartless by Marissa Meyer ❤

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland and a favorite of the unmarried King, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, she wants to open a shop and create delectable pastries. But for her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for a woman who could be a queen.
At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the King’s marriage proposal, she meets handsome and mysterious Jest. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into a secret courtship.
Cath is determined to choose her own destiny. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.”

So far I am LOVING this book. It has not yet disappointed me and is definitely living up to the excitement I felt before it’s release. For my fellow Owlcrate subscribers, I wonder if this will be coming in our November boxes. Either way I couldn’t wait any longer. I haven’t read a single review because I want to be completely surprised.

How many of you out there are reading this of have already read it? 🙂

Top Ten Tuesday

Hey guys! Ohh I have missed you all.
For the past two weeks my life has been a liiiittle crazy. I got sick, work is crazy and then……for those of you who don’t follow my twitter, my doggy died very suddenly. It was heart breaking and I’m still not over it.
Anywho, lets get back on track shall we? I could use a little stability 🙂 and today is Tuesday…..ok it’s actually Wednesday now but I started this yesterday before work. But I still didn’t want to miss out on a TOP TEN TUESDAY! ❤
This week is Movie Freebie — top ten all time favorite movies, top ten foreign films, top ten rom-coms, top ten 90’s movies, top ten action flicks, top ten tear-jerkers, top ten movies your favorite actor/actress is in, top ten movies with PoC leads, etc. etc.)
Being a 90’s baby……(you can see where this is going) I LOVED every single movie I grew up with. So what better way to share them with you then to show you my top ten favorites 🙂

  1. The Santa Clause
“Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.”
  2. The Sandlot
“Heroes get remembered but legends never die.”
  3. Mrs. Doubtfire
    “Carpe dentum. Seize the teeth.”
  4. Hook
  5. Titanic
  6. Forrest Gump
  7. Apollo 13
    “Houston, we have a problem.”
  8. Armageddon
  9. The Iron Giant
“You are who you choose to be.”
  10. Home Alone
  11. Clueless
    “Ugh as if!”
  12. I’ll Be Home For Christmas
  13. Jurassic Park

So clearly I went a little over the usual 10. I couldn’t help it there were so many good choices. I also made it a point to exclude Disney animated movies because this list would easily be well over 30.
Each one of these movies is a special part of my childhood. If you haven’t seen any of them I highly recommend watching a few of these. Especially the Christmas ones since December is just around the corner 🙂 I watch them every year!

What Are You Reading Wednesday

Hey guys!
Today is a very special day to me. Today is Dia De Los Muertos and I can’t wait to begin the celebration for my loved ones ❤ do any of you plan to take part in today’s festivities? To help my celebrate I’m actually watching The Book Of Life ❤ which if you haven’t seen is a very cute movie about this Mexican tradition.

Also this post is going to be filled with more than just what I’m currently reading. I have a book haul for you! So let’s get right into it shall we? 🙂

fairest-meyer-coverJust yesterday I, and I mean it this time, picked up Fairest by Marissa Meyer.
and finished the whole thing in a few short hours. Oh man was that book intense! I’m definitely going to be reviewing that pretty soon here. If you love the Lunar Chronicles and haven’t read this I absolutely recommend it. Mostly because it’s a really good story about Levana. I don’t know about any of you but I personally love getting to know our villains a little more.

gone-with-the-wind-9781451635621_hrCurrently I’m reading Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I love this movie. Never have I read the book but I always wanted to.
A co-worker of mine lent it to me. She absolutely loves this book and reads it once every year. Let me just say this, this book is 959 pages! I have no idea how she reads this every year!!!! Anyway I may pick up something else just because I can foresee myself needing to take a break from that book. It’s so huge. Also it’s not my typical go to genre so I may take my time reading it. Which I have been assured over and over again by my friend that it’s perfectly ok to take my time.

Book Haul!!!!!
This past weekend I went to see my dad. We had an awesome weekend! As we were driving to Outback Steak House I just so happened to see a store called “Half Price Books.” (So glad I wasn’t driving. I would have totally missed that.) So of course I said to my boyfriend and dad, “Hey there’s a book store! We’re going there tomorrow.)
Ok, that store is actually a very dangerous place. They have EVERYTHING there! Including new releases! Those unfortunately are still the regular retail price. But hey that’s totally ok and completely understandable. Because there were still a bunch of books for great prices. Let me show you what I got………

First I picked these up for my little cousin who has been asking for these books for two years. She loved the movie. Someone got her the fifth book to the series but she doesn’t want to read it because she doesn’t want to spoil the story for herself. Smart girl 😉
These were two bucks each! A total steal.

Then I picked up these four 🙂 Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, which is apparently pretty popular. I actually just happened across it and thought it sounded really good. Red Rising by Pierce Brown. The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead. A while ago I stopped reading the Bloodline series, not purposefully.I was waiting for the next book to come out and then it did, and then the one after that did too. Anyway I picked up a copy so I can continue the series. Most of these, including the hardcover copy of The Fiery Heart, were under 6 dollars! There were more books I wanted to buy but I had already spent a little over an hour in the store. Keep in mind I had dragged my boyfriend along for the ride. It was nearing 3 pm and he was beginning to get a little hangry.

I can’t wait to start reading these. The biggest problem I’m having right now is where to begin!
Oh and there was one more book 😉 this one I especially saved for last. I got this bad boy for my birthday, which recently passed, from my beloved sister. She even wrote a little something on the inside of the cover. To which surprisingly I found completely heart warming. Normally I would be appalled by such blatant disregard for a books precious value. Nope, I teared up! Now I will forever remember where the book came from. Ok 🙂 here it is……..

20161031_122141That’s right I finally have my own copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
So once again, I have no idea what to read next! These all look great and I just want to read them all at the same time!
If you’ve read any or heck even all of these books pleeeease help me to choose one. Tell me which one was your favorite 🙂 I’m really not sure what kind of reading mood I’m in right now. Think of me as neutral, blank……a clean canvas. Which one would you recommend?

Feliz Dia De Los Muertos ❤
