As a Grand Mistress Necromancer, Elea’s a witch who commands the ultimate power over spirit and bone. It’s magic that she’ll need in order to stop the Vicomte Gaspard from killing her Sisters by draining their magic along with their life force.

To find and free her fellow witches, Elea must venture into some of the most dangerous places in the realm. What starts off as a rescue quest could easily turn into a suicide mission. And with the handsome warlock Rowan along to help, Elea may be risking more than her life. Her growing feelings for Rowan might put her heart on the line, too.

Rowan stepped into my path, forcing me to stop. “We can’t worry about the Tsar just now.”

“How can I not? This is the Tsar we’re talking about. The man killed off thousands of my people. If he comes back, I’m his top target.”

“No one is getting anywhere near you, Elea.” Rowan’s voice was a rough rasp. “You have my word. I know what you care about, and it’s your Sisters. That’s all you need to think about. At least, for the next two days. Promise me?”

Rowan’s words helped to center my thoughts. “You’re right. Little time remains to save Ada and the others. I need to stay the course. Thank you, Rowan.”

“I’ll always be here for you.” Rowan stared at me for a long moment. I thought he might have more to say. Instead, he shook his head, stepped across the cave floor, and picked up the loops of rope. “Any ideas on where your Sisters are imprisoned?”

“Amelia wants to check the Havilland mansion first.”

“I can send in someone from my team. They’re experts at subterfuge.”

“No. These are my people. I have to go.”

Once again, Rowan moved to stand so close our bodies were only inches apart. “Trust me on this. My people can handle the Royals.” He brushed the backs of his fingertips up my cheek and I melted into the touch. “I want you safe, Elea.” He leaned in until his mouth was only a breath away from mine.

This wasn’t the time for emotion. I couldn’t seem to stop my zuchtlos feelings, though. My heart thumped with such force I thought it might burst from my chest. Rowan’s voice became low and gentle. “Return to Braddock Farm. Stay safe. I will end this. Once it’s done, I’ll find you there. I swear it.”

My legs felt wobbly beneath me. In my mind’s eye, it all appeared so easy and clear. Rowan could handle this. I’d return to my farm and help the faithful servants who’d kept it thriving. Then one day, Rowan would arrive and we’d be together. How wonderful would that be?

I closed my eyes and stepped away from his touch. This was impossible. My people were my responsibility. No one else’s. And the idea that Rowan and I could be together? That was an illusion.

“It’s a sweet dream. We both know it isn’t the truth. You’re part of the Caster Imperial family. Your uncle is none other than Genesis Rex. You can’t have a life with me as a farmer, can you?”

Rowan’s gaze intensified. “No.” He stepped closer once again. “I’ll still find you, though.”

“And when you do, what will I be?” I wanted to touch him and to be with him. I knew that now. But not at any cost. “Your mistress? Your absentee wife?”

“You’ll be mine.” He pulled me into his arms. Every ridge of his hard body pressed against my soft curves. I’d never craved anything more in my life than I wanted to kiss Rowan right now. He leaned in closer than ever before. His warm breath cascaded over my lips. “Don’t fight this. Please.”

My control snapped, and I pressed my mouth to his. Yes. Our first few tastes were tentative. Gentle. Rowan was as delicious as I’d imagined, a flavor that was somewhere between musk and desire. Every touch of his lips sent spasms of want through my core.

Our kiss quickly turned rough. Rowan nipped my bottom lip, and I let out a rough groan. This kiss could go on forever. Still, some small part of my brain shouted for me to stop.

I didn’t know how I found the strength, but I pushed Rowan away. “I want you too. That’s not enough for me. We’re from different worlds. Your place is with your people. I need to save mine. Once this is over, we’ll never see each other again. I can’t afford to feel more for you than I already do.”

Rowan’s eyes took on that intense look I knew so well. A muscle worked in his jaw for a long moment. “I understand. We both have work to do.”

I exhaled. “I’m glad you can accept the truth.”

“I didn’t say that.” He scooped up the ropes and offered them to me. “This isn’t over.”

I stared at the green cords coiled around his palm. I wanted real ties between us as well. Yet wanting a thing wasn’t the same as having it. I pulled the rope from his hand and looped it around my shoulders. “We better get back.”

The Last Winter Moon Trailer

Hey guys! Miracle of miracles, I actually had the entire weekend off of work. That’s right, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No work. None.
To say that I took advantage of that is an understatement. My boyfriend and I high tailed it out of town and decided to go visit my dad. Whom I haven’t seen in about 6 months.
So I’ve been a little busy. Which means I totally blanked on a couple previous engagements I had already planned (slaps back of hand). Also I didn’t take my lap top with me.
Also in other news I’m pretty sure I sprained my wrist or strained a tendon in my wrist 😥 All I know is it hurts like a bitch. Every morning and every day all day long for the past week. Yeaaa not fun. Despite that I had such a good weekend, spent some much needed time with my dad ❤ and got some awesome new books! I hope you all had as great of a weekend as I did.
This is coming to you a few days late but I didn’t want you guys to miss out on it. Here are some fun trailers for you guys to watch about a new book coming out soon 😉 enjoy!

Mercer Buddie wants two things in this world: a girlfriend and the chance to prove to his master falconer father that he’s not a flake. With hunting season fast approaching, fourteen-year-old Mercer has only a short time to work with Flip, a red-tailed hawk he irreverently named to show his dad that falconers don’t have to be so serious all the time.
When Mercer meets Lucy, he falls hard for her gorgeous looks and bubbly personality. He thinks his love life is about to take flight, until he discovers that Lucy and her family belong to a fanatical animal-rights organization called HALT—a group that believes imposing any sort of restrictions on animals is a form of cruelty. Mercer soon realizes that if he wants to keep seeing Lucy, he’ll need to keep his love of falconry and his family’s raptor rehabilitation center a secret from her, and Lucy’s involvement with HALT from his family.

With humor and honesty, Mercer’s story shows how growing up means making difficult choices…and sometimes, being rewarded in unexpected ways.

Ahh! This book was really good. It had me laughing so loud at times that I’m pretty sure my neighbors could hear me. I could not put this book down from the moment I received it. After reading so many YA books about Fantasy it was very refreshing to read a contemporary fiction that revolves around something more than evil plots by villains.

Brunner does a wonderful job of capturing teen love, sibling rivalry, moral values and finding ones self.
All of the characters seemed so real. I had such a fantastic time getting to know each and every one of them. One of the best things about this book is that Brunner took a story with issues as serious as those of Romeo and Juliet, and implemented enough hilarity that the topic doesn’t seem so gruesome. There was definitely a lighthearted feel to this.

Mercer Buddie and his family  (mostly his dad) run a rehabilitation center for injured wild birds. They release the ones who are ready to go back into the wild and continue to care for those who are permanently injured. Mercer, Lincoln (older brother), and their father all have a passion for Falconry. They love it, it’s what they do. At fourteen Mercer is determined to show his family that he’s not a kid anymore. While he still portrays all the characteristics of an average adolescent boy, he’s very motivated. Motivated to win that Best Apprentice Pin with the new Red-Tailed hawk he just captured, Flip. Which is sure to show his dad that he can take Falconry just as seriously as he does.
That is until he walks into the pet shop and sees the girl of his dreams. That’s right, it’s your classic case of “love at first sight.” Lucy ❤ adorable name, is a beautiful young girl with blond hair and who’s eyes are “sage green with light flecks of yellow in them.” Lucy and her family have a passion of their own as well. They’re animal rights activists and are part of a serious group named HALT.
Mercer and Lucy’s up and coming romance has Mercer’s head and ideals all in a twist. Suddenly he’s just as eager to please Lucy as he is to please his father. Even going so far as to take an interest in joining HALT itself! What would his father think? Especially after HALT does some extremely questionable things to their family. Now Mercer is lying to Lucy and lying to his family. Yikes.

I felt a little bad for Mercer, he’s barely a teenager after all. He tried very hard to prove himself. He just wanted his old man to be proud of him and to treat him as an equal. After all, his father doesn’t treat Lincoln (older bother) like a kid. He also just wanted Lucy to like him and to make her happy. Unfortunately this poor guy just can’t have it all. By the end of the book Mercer definitely learns a few lessons the hard way, but her learns them. He’s actually  very honest and brave. It takes a lot of courage for anyone to own up to their mistakes. Also he finally learns to stand up for himself! That’s something I was very eager to see change in him and I was so relieved when it finally did.

This book had such fine detail! Brunner herself took part in some very heavy hands on research of Falconry. In the acknowledgements she goes on to tell us a little bit about her experience at a special sanctuary in Illinois where she learned everything she could about American Raptors.
This was such a rewarding read that I have so much respect for Falconers now. In fact my respect for authors themselves has grown tremendously as well. The bar for that was already extremely high, now it’s through the roof! The lengths that our authors go through to ensure we enjoy every word is so touching ❤
SO a huge huge thanks goes out to HMH Books, Kym Brunner, and Rock Star Book Tours for giving me the opportunity to be part of this tour ❤

A good 4 out of 5 for me 🙂

If you haven’t heard of this book I hope you’ll check it out when it hits the shelves! I’m telling you guys you’ll love the break from typical Fantasy as you shift into something a lot more lighthearted and real.

City of Wind
Jordan Rivet
(Steel and Fire, #4)

Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Dara Ruminor is a serious young duelist in the mountaintop kingdom of Vertigon, a land of dramatic cliffs and misty peaks where mysterious Fire magic runs through the stones like blood. The secluded kingdom has been peaceful for a hundred years. Swords are used for sport, and successful athletes live like kings as long as the crowds love them.

Eighteen-year-old Dara needs to find a wealthy patron in order to duel professionally and avoid a lifetime working in her parents’ Fire Lantern shop. Her efforts are disrupted when her coach asks her to train with Prince Siv, an infuriating—if handsome—young man who refuses to take the sport as seriously as she does. But the prince’s life may be in danger, and soon Dara will discover that Vertigon isn’t as peaceful as she thought.

As threats emerge from the shadows, Dara will have to raise her sword to protect Siv—if he doesn’t irritate her so much that she decides to run him through herself.

From the author of the Seabound Chronicles comes a new fantasy series about sword fighting, cur-dragons, molten Fire magic, and one young woman’s effort to prove herself.

Incandescently Book Blitz

Hey guys 🙂 got another book blitz for ya ❤

Sylvie Parizeau
Publication date: October 22nd 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance

LIAM O’SHEA, bestseller author of the SciFi saga, Eiloe.

All I knew was pain – a childhood filled with cruelty and villains who used and abused.

Until Éolie.

I first heard her sweet, angelical voice in the dark of night, when I lay bathed in my own impending death. Seventeen years later, it’s not the nightmare she pulled me out of that haunts me, but the glimpse of Happily Ever After she revealed just before disappearing.

They said she was a figment of my boundless imagination. A wish. A dream. Until I had no choice but to believe them, cherishing my imaginary savior the only way I knew how – in fiction and lore.

But fantasy has a way of transforming reality. When I finally tire of being a citizen of the world, I take an impromptu sabbatical as a professor at a small college on the coast of Maine. And there I see her, the girl with the sea-green eyes and angelic voice.

My world turns upside down. Turns out my girl is for real, and the pull between us is anything but imaginary.

Happily Ever After has a story … and this one is mine.

Guest post by Sylvie Parizeau

The overall theme of the Incandescent Series is romantic with a touch of magic and whimsy.

Bonjour !

As you know by now (spoiler alert if you haven’t read my full bio :, I am epilogue obsessive compulsive.

And as Éolie once said to Liam in one of their deleted scenes:

_“Liam, it’s a compulsion. I swear; I start to read fully intending not to skip ahead, but I can’t help it. I need to know how it ends before I can enjoy how the characters get there. I cannot bear anything less than a happy ending. Everyone deserves a happily ever after.”_

Guilty as charged. I am one of those who read the end … right after Chapter One. So by now, you’re either, gasping, cringing, totally scandalized, or smiling in complete accord, depending on which side of that story you stand, non?

But in any case, this obsession of mine is what started my story-telling journey. I can’t tell you how many times I concocted additional scenes in my head every time I got lost in a romance book. What do you mean The End? Noooo. It’s the beginning! Give me the happy!!

And as such, Liam and Éolie’s story, INCANDESCENTLY, book One in the Incandescent Series, holds a very special place in my heart, and I hope it will in yours too come October 22, 2016.

Meanwhile, in heartfelt appreciation for being such an awesome and all-around wonderful blogger, your tribe is among the first ones to enter a chance for a signed paperback copy as well as a signed copy of the map. A journey into the incandescent world of the Forest of Laure where all of my characters find their Happily Ever After, love, cherish, and grow, one story at a time.

So? In the mood to read something romantic with a touch of magic and whimsy? Go ahead. Let yourself loose.

You guys rock my world.

Happy reading!

A Court of Thorns and Roses Book Review

Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens 77493_original

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Genre: New Adult, Fantasy

Pages: 416

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Typically I don’t like books about faeries. Oh don’t get me wrong. Growing up I LOVED fairy tales. Princesses, Princes, magical kingdoms, glass slippers and magic carpet rides! Tinker Bell and Neverland always held a special place in my heart. When I grew up I sort of shifted from Tink and pixie dust to kick butt vampires and magic wands.
The whole world of Fae just doesn’t seem as badass anymore……..or so I thought!
I totally gave into the hype when I got this book. I wanted to be in on the huge circle that is Sarah J. Maas’s fandom. I needed to see what the big deal was about her writing. Plus that cover ❤
Well I found out what everyone was going on about. Sarah J Mass. Is. Fan. Tastic!

The first thing that gripped me about this book was the world building. It was amazing! It was just intricate enough that it wasn’t over whelming. Not only that, I never felt lost for a second. It was really easy to pin point the details that were Beauty and the Beast reflections. However it was clear that there was so much more intertwined from other fairy tale stories. Maas completely took the idea of a retelling and made it her 100% her own.
The romance was not expected. I mean of course there was bound to be some kind of relationship between Feyre and Tamlin (again Belle and Beast). Keep in mind I didn’t look at any reviews of this book, nor did I read anything else about it but the blurb. When Maas started describing uhm……relations between our two main characters I freaked out! I thought it was a YA book! “How is this for teenagers???” Imagine how silly I felt when I realized it’s actually New Adult. So, not only is this the first Sarah J Maas book I’ve read, it’s also the first NA book I’ve read. Two birds with one stone look at that.

The character development was just as amazing as the world building. The characters were well rounded from the beginning of each introduction. Unfortunately with Feyre (Fay-rah), our main character, I felt that there was no real connection. She felt cliche, predictable and like she lacked depth. She actually reminds me of Katniss (except Katniss I loved). She obviously cares a great deal for her family and goes to great lengths to make sure they are going to survive through the next day. As I said they are pretty s*** poor. Feyre actually, get this, goes to the woods with her bow and arrow…..and hunts for food. Her obvious skill being archery. Very Katniss Everdeen. Just as Katniss hated the Capitol and held such strong prejudice against those who lived there, Feyre hates Prythian and all of the Faerie Court.
I do have to say that out of all of the characters in this book, she’s the one who grows the most. She changes, so much that by the end of the book she’s a different person entirely. Feyre becomes very compassionate. It’s pretty fantastic the way Sarah wrote her.

Tamlin is a beast! Literally and figuratively. He’s a high Fae that transforms into a giant wolf and has great power. Tamlin, as high lord of the Spring Court, carries a lot of weight on his shoulders. Burdened with a curse placed upon him and his entire court Tamlin pours his heart into their protection. He’s empathetic, compassionate and nothing like the selfish prince in the beginning of Beauty and the Beast. He’s also very thoughtful, putting Feyre’s needs and the needs of other faeries before his own. His determination to break the curse is more for the sake of those who were affected by it than for himself.

Amarantha the antagonist of this retelling, was a very very well written villain. Evil to the core she’s ruthless in her torture and hatred of the human kind. Her backstory isn’t discovered until near the end of the book but you learn enough to understand why it is she harbors so much resentment towards humans. I actually really liked her character. I liked that she was exactly who everyone in the book said she was.

A couple of other characters worth mentioning are;
Rhysand (ree-sand) – Think of him as a sort of Daemon character. A bad guy who does the right thing every now again. Though he’s still very selfish and does’t really care about that.
Nesta – This is Feyre’s sister and quite frankly she’s a huge b****. While she sort of redeems herself at the end I still can’t appreciate her. I didn’t like her at all. tumblr_nm5de5smdk1u0il5ao1_540

Needless to say guys that I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I’m dying to know what blank blanked at the very end. If you haven’t jumped on this bandwagon it’s not too late! I got my book on Look for coupons guys, they help a lot! Plus you can get a really nice hard cover for like 12 bucks vs the 20 something you would pay in store. It’s true.
A solid 4 out of 5 for me!

10 Tips on Finding Love during the Zombie Apocalypse

Hey guys! I’m currently working on my review for ACOTAR. Almost done! I know I said it would be up later today but with my birthday fast approaching (tomorrow!!!) I’m finding there’s very little time to myself!
Anyway I thought I would make it up to you and give you a fun guest post created by Melanie Karsak, author of The Harvesting.

Finding love during a zombie apocalypse can be tricky, but with the right guidance, even you can find a way to make your heart soar while spattered in zombie goo. After all, Glenn and Maggie from “The Walking Dead” perfected the art. In my novel The Harvesting, Layla and Jamie find a way to make things work. What about you? When it all ends, could you find a new beginning? Maybe we can learn some lessons from these war-torn z-poc survivors. But how to you do it? Let’s take a look at 10 ways to find love during the zombie apocalypse:

10) Assume that Warm Bodies was a one-shot deal. Avoid coming on to the undead.

9) If you are lucky enough to find the right person, learn how to moan like a zombie. No more “to the heavens” chortles. If you learn to moan like a zombie, the undead are more likely to ignore you and you won’t get caught in any embarrassing positions. No one wants to run from zombies with their pants around their ankles.

8) Never miss an opportunity for a “safe sex zone.” You’ve just cleared out a bunker full of zombies and there is a really cozy closet down the hall away the rest of the group. What are you waiting for?

7) Reconsider your standards. Okay, maybe you didn’t love rednecks in your everyday life, but chances are that if there is a redneck about (male or female), they’ve got the chops to make it in the z-poc. It might be time to warm up. Git-r-done, y’all!

6) Get over hang-ups about hygiene: perfume, cologne, deodorant, a toothbrush, a shower . . . all things of the past. If you want to connect with someone over a can of dog food, you need to let go of your feelings about bad-breath.

5) You will likely be dead tomorrow. If you think he or she might be interested, just make a move.

4) Do not use protection (wait for it…). Let’s set STDs aside for a moment and talk about pregnancy. Almost every movie and book assures us that if you get pregnant, your child will save humanity. The cure will be in their blood. While it would be very annoying to have a STD during the apocalypse, don’t let that crush the chance to save mankind. Don’t be selfish.

3) Examine your group. Are there any couples? No? Every story always depicts one “sweet” couple. If  your group is currently lacking this couple, you and your partner might be able to take over this stock-character/relational role. Your “too sweet to kill” love story might just save you come z-day. Go ahead and try to have a real relationship. On the other hand, if you see your partner making eyes at others in your group, run away! Getting involved in a love triangle almost certainly spells death.

2) The rules of Zombieland suggest double-tap…and so do I.

1) Learn how to make love with your boots on and the safety off.

I hope these 10 rules helped you get ready for all the zombie-lovin’ fun you can have. If you would like to learn more about how to survive during the zombie apocalypse, please check out my novel The Harvesting now available at!
