Check out an excerpt below!!!
I slid the door open to find Kayella standing wide-eyed. She looked shaken, beads of sweat covering her forehead. Her arms were crossed in a protective position, and one finger twisted a lock of her auburn hair.
“Kayella? What happened? Are you hurt?” I asked as I pulled her inside and glanced both ways down the seemingly deserted corridors. I slid the door shut.
“What is it, Kayella? Did Dahsie do something to you?”
I waited patiently and offered her my rest pod. She remained standing, staring ahead.
She swallowed. “You have no reason to believe me. None at all. Ever since I can remember, my dreams have reflected reality. They are jumbled and I never remember the entire dream but something always stands out and I see it come true.”
“Why has this brought you here?”
“You can’t go into the Den to the Supply Depot. At least, I feel you shouldn’t go.” Kayella rubbed her forehead with the sleeve of her blouse.
“Let me get you a drink.” I pulled down a metal can and filled it with water.
Before I turned around, Kayella’s hand was on my arm. Her footsteps were so silent that she startled me. I pivoted to look at her as she spoke a single word hauntingly. “Death.” Kayella looked so serious that I did not speak my initial thought of “nonsense.” Instead, I handed her the can and asked her to tell me about her dream.
“It won’t make any sense to you. How can I explain something I don’t understand? They are bits and pieces of a puzzle.” Kayella became flustered, her hand began to tremble, and water sloshed to the floor. “I came because I felt I needed to warn you not to go tomorrow.” She grabbed my arm tightly. “Have someone go in your place. I have to go and warn Alecander.” She dropped the can into the sink, splashing water along the wall. Before I could stop her, she ran out the door and down the corridor. I stood there, taken aback. The Kayella I knew was timid and sweet. I knew nothing of this Kayella.
Death. Such an ominous word. Is it that I might die? Or Alecander? What exactly had Kayella seen? Did it even matter?

One last excerpt 😉

“Thanks for the help,” I said, trying to be polite.

“No problem.” As she leaned in a little closer, my toes dug into my soles. Her whisper caressed my ear. “I slipped in a couple extra bags of oats and a jug of milk.” She winked. “Don’t tell.”

I was not used to a Human being that close or that generous before. I just stood there, staring back at her.

“There you go again, staring! If I wasn’t a confident person you would give me a complex.” Linnayah bent down, lifted up a box and handed it to me. I took it and loaded the last of the boxes into our cargo vehicle.

For the remainder of our time in the Supply Depot, I tried hard not to look for Linnayah but failed miserably. I could not help it, she fascinated me. Why would she give us anything extra to eat? Why risk getting in trouble? Where does she live? What is her family like? Where does she go to school? I would like to read her school report sometime. Would she get high marks for it? Will I see her again?

What Are You Reading Wednesday

Ok now that I’ve put up my Tuesday (on Wednesday) it’s time for my WAYRW 🙂

This week I’m still reading A Whole New World A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell.

So far it’s…..ok? I mean it isn’t bad. It feels as though I’m reading the Disney movie script. Even the dialogue is practically verbatim. Because of this I’m actually reading it very slowly. It’s a liiiittle bit discouraging. If I wanted to watch the movie I would ya know? Hopefully things start turning around very soon and I get to see the story begin to twist. Get it 😉 twist…..because it’s a twisted tale?

This far into the book the only there are only minor things that are different. Mmm, ok so a small itsy bitsy spoiler: Aladdin got stuck in the Cave of Wonders just as he did in the movie except Abu did not sneak the lamp away from Jafar. They were stuck in the cave without Genie.
That’s not that much of a spoiler since the blurb itself reveals that Jafar gets to Genie first. I just wanted to give a short example of whats “twisted” so far.

So that’s just a small update on what I’m still reading this week and how it’s going. Slowly. I still have hope though.
I hope each of you are enjoying your current reads 🙂

So that’s my “so far” Fall TBR. Also I realize it’s no longer Tuesday and I am forever running late at everything I do *shaaaaaame.* Please forgive me guys! ❤

Pop Manga Coloring Book Review

Pop Manga Coloring Book: A Surreal Journey Through a Cute, Curious, Bizarre, and Beautiful World

by Camilla D’Errico  Image result for pop manga coloring book

Publisher: Watson-Guptill

Genre: Adult Coloring Book

Pages: 80

Manga artist and Pop Surrealism superstar Camilla d Errico presents her first everadult coloring book, filled with portraits, patterns, and the stunning artwork her fans and collectors have come to love.
This one-of-a-kind book offers you the opportunity tocollaborate with d Errico, adding your colors to her gorgeous black and whitelinework. Featuring everything from haunting and surreal character portraitsto pages filled with patterns and designs all rendered in d Errico sinimitable style, “Pop Manga Coloring Book “is guaranteed toprovide hours of coloring fun and excitement.”

I’m not very familiar with adult coloring books. Including this one I only have two. This is definitely my favorite of the two! Camilla D’Errico’s newest book is based on a beautiful mix of manga and surrealism. As a huge fan of surrealism I knew I had to request this.

D’Errico is very well known, especially among manga/anime artists and comic con fans. Her art in this book makes one think about the characters as you color them in. She has left us so much freedom in her drawings to creates our own stories for them. Each picture, while all from the same artist, gives off a certain feeling of distinction. The sketches are so genuine and detailed that you feel as though you are working hand-in-hand with D’Errico herself.
Just in case you’re like me and aren’t used to so much freedom and creativity, the artist has also lent us another helping hand in the form of a little…….guinea pig?  Ayako can be found on the bottom corners of a few pages. Some times she takes away from the illusion but more than that she is very helpful. Reminding us that we can do whatever we want with the pages. Color in the lines…..or don’t color in the lines! (I’ve yet to work up the courage for that.) Use bold colors or use subtle colors…….or do both! Plus she’s super cute ❤

The quality of the pages is very thick. Unlike anything familiar to us in the pages of a child’s more flimsy and grainy book. These are just thick enough that you can use almost any kind of medium to color. For example I’ve mostly stuck with pencils but you can easily use markers or water colors and brushes. I would just be a little careful not to saturate the brush too much as it will distort the texture of the page. Might want to keep a blow dryer or heat gun on hand.

I’m still working on completing some of these….

This book is so incredibly different from other adult books. Where others have repeating patterns, this book is on a whole different level. There are only 80 pages front and back. Yet they range from intricate patterns to subtle characters. One minute you’re looking into a world of gangling tentacles adjacent to an innocent girl in what looks to be a bedroom repairing her torn teddy bear. The next page you find yourself looking at a field of strawberries just begging for some delicious color.

I have had more fun with this book than I ever did as a kid. I feel more creativity flowing through me and onto the pages than I ever knew I even had! So I definitely want to give a HUGE thanks to Camilla D’Errico for making it possible for me to have this much fun with a coloring book ❤ she’s truly a remarkable artist.

*I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.*

About Camilla D’Errico

Camilla d’Errico is a product of her split heritage, Italian and Canadian rolled into one: Italian fiestiness, Canadian politeness, and an early addiction to Saturday morning cartoons, comics and manga. Growing up she was more often doodling sexy damsels and dragons on her textbooks than reading them. In 1998 when Camilla first attended her first San Diego Comic Con she realised that a 9–5 day job would kill her and this was what she wanted to do. Thanks to her relentless energy, dedication, and just enough sleep deprivation, she has followed her dream of working creatively for a living.

Camilla’s unique style continues to be in demand and her client list includes Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Random House, Tokyopop, Hasbro, Disney, Sanrio, Neil Gaiman and she also works with video game and movie companies on character development. Her own characters and properties, Tanpopo and Helmetgirls, are loved by fans and followers and now inspire Cosplay costumes. She has successfully merchandised and licensed her beautiful artwork across a variety of categories: clothing, stationery and gift, accessories, art prints, etc. and continues to expand her licensing program. Her emotive and eloquent paintings have propelled her to the top of the ranks of the New Contemporary art movement, and she is represented by Opera Gallery of New York.

Camilla can’t live without Holbein’s “DUO” water-soluble oils, green tea lattes, Hello Kitty merchandise, and her daily fix of manga and anime.

“Its about expressing what they feel and feeling what they express”

An obvious 5 out of 5 for me. If you haven’t yet snagged a copy of this you may want to just make this your next purchase, I’m telling you guys you will have loads of fun. Just in case you want to add this to your wish lists, let me leave the links down below 😉

Discover Your Patronus

Hey guys!
It’s been a while since I did a pretty fun post and while I was at work today (it was slow don’t judge me) I decided to visit Pottermore! Little did I know, you can now take a short quiz to discover what your Patonus would be! 🙂 how exciting is that!?

I always figured mine would be something big and fierce. I’m a very small lady so I would obviously need something twice my size to protect me right? I love wild cats, horses, falcons and wolves. Then I thought “Well my bestest friend ever is a lazy house cat so……” Either way I took a chance on a test that can only be taken once. Yes you read that right. One time only……unless of course you make another account. But that’s way too  much work.

The quiz is timed. It specifically instructs you not to think, but to feel. (Which only made me nervous) There are about 6 questions I want to say. I didn’t actually count. Most of the questions have three choices, the others have only two. At the end of the quiz you are asked to drag your mouse across the screen and then release the button. Your Patronus is then revealed!

“So are you gonna tell us?” Yes yes of course I will! My Patronus was……..

A Polecat ❤
I actually had to look that up because I had never heard of a Polecat before. I thought it was made up for Pottermore. Google of course taught me otherwise. To clarify, it’s like a ferret.
Polecat- a weasel-like Eurasian mammal (genus Mustela, family Mustelidae ) with mainly dark brown fur and a darker mask across the eyes, noted for ejecting a fetid fluid when threatened.

“Ejecting a fetid fluid? Gross.” I said to myself. Then of course I had to know what it looked like, I mean this creature is gong to protect me from Dementors! It’s going to be my guardian of light! I can’t not know what it looks like.
Ladies and Gentelmen, the Polecat…..

So needless to say I’m obviously in love and very VERY proud that my Patronus is a Polecat ❤ Of course now I also want one for real.
If you haven’t yet head on over to Pottermore to take your quiz! What are you waiting for!? Let’s swap Patronus stories and swoon over them together!!! 😉 Or for those of you who have already discovered your guardian of light, what did you get?
Click here to be taken directly to it if like me you just couldn’t wait.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to do more research and get acquainted with my new little friend ❤

What Are You Reading Wednesday

Hey guys!
Sheesh, I’m telling you these weeks just keep going by faster and faster!
This week I’m honestly still reeling from a book hangover. That last one was a doozy for me and all I keep thinking is how much I want to be hooked by another book like that. Recently I picked up…….

A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell

Image result for A Whole New World (Twisted Tales #1)

What if Jafar was the first one to summon the Genie?

When Jafar steals the Genie’s lamp, he uses his first two wishes to become sultan and the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Agrabah lives in fear, waiting for his third and final wish.To stop the power-mad ruler, Aladdin and the deposed Princess Jasmine must unite the people of Agrabah in rebellion. But soon their fight for freedom threatens to tear the kingdom apart in a costly civil war.

What happens next? A Street Rat becomes a leader. A princess becomes a revolutionary. And readers will never look at the story of Aladdin in the same way again.

I’ve been wanting to read this for a little while. I think the idea of Disney’s finest stories having a different ending is very intriguing. If any of you have ever seen Cinderella III A Twist In Time (which would have made a better Cinderella II) then you’ll probably understand where I’m coming from. And if you haven’t, well go check it out! 🙂
I’m very excited to be diving into this book.

What are you reading this week? 🙂
