New Book Haul!

Hey guys! I just wanted to share the new books I recently purchased. Now that it’s summer contemporary books look more and more appealing. Something about adventures abroad just sound perfect for summer. Especially these book covers!

beforeifallBefore I fall by Lauren Oliver. This book I have had my eye on for quite some time, picking it up and reading the back almost every time I would visit the book store. It was only recently that I finally decided to take it home with me and read it.
The story follows Samantha and her “posse” of senior girls. Together they feel indestructible and fall into the stereo type of partying, self-centered teenage drama queens.

“For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—”Cupid Day”—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.

However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.”

80 pages into the book Sam is really not on my good side. I’m pretty peeved at her friends as well. Which tells me that this, is going to be a good book! I can’t wait to see the changes that Sam is (hopefully) going to go through.

stephanieperkins1wThe second book I picked up is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. This book has received so much hype and had suuuuch a beautiful cover that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take it home.

“Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?”

25944381The third book in this haul is Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard. Red Queen was such a fantastic book! With Glass Sword already out I knew I wanted to read the novela first, plus the Barnes and Noble exclusive version of it is currently out of stock online. What better book to hold me over while I wait?

Queen Song

Queen Coriane, first wife of King Tiberias, keeps a secret diary—how else can she ensure that no one at the palace will use her thoughts against her? Coriane recounts her heady courtship with the crown prince, the birth of a new prince, Cal, and the potentially deadly challenges that lay ahead for her in royal life.

Steel Scars

Diana Farley was raised to be strong, but being tasked with planting the seeds of rebellion in Norta is a tougher job than expected. As she travels the land recruiting black market traders, smugglers, and extremists for her first attempt at an attack on the capital, she stumbles upon a connection that may prove to be the key to the entire operation—Mare Barrow.

Plus a Glass Sword sneak peek!

An exclusive excerpt of the hotly anticipated second book in the Red Queen series, Glass Sword, transports readers to the world of Silver tyranny, a Red dawn rising, and one girl’s resolve to break down the system that will hold her back no longer.”

StarsAboveFinally the fourth and last book that I picked up was Stars Above by Marissa Meyer. This book has been out since early February of this year and I postponed getting it for so many reasons! The biggest one being that this is the laaaast book in The Lunar Chronicles series. It gives back stories of all our beloved characters and also a fantastic wedding! Is it Cinders wedding? Scarlet and Wolfe’s perhaps? Cress and Thorne!?! Only one way to find out. With nine short stories in total I can NOT wait to read this, yet at the same time I struggle to crack it open! The struggle is real guys. Truly.

 “The enchantment continues….

The universe of the Lunar Chronicles holds stories—and secrets—that are wondrous, vicious, and romantic. How did Cinder first arrive in New Beijing? How did the brooding soldier Wolf transform from young man to killer? When did Princess Winter and the palace guard Jacin realize their destinies?”

So that’s my recent book haul! Thanks for reading and as always feel free to let me know what books you’ve recently picked up or are just dying to read for summer, I’d love to hear it! 😉

Anna and the French Kiss was such a fun read and perfect for summer. I hope you enjoy it. I just borrowed Cinder from the library so I’ll see if I’ll also hop on that bandwagon.
